Ray Le Maistre
Ray Le Maistre

Don't be fooled by the weird cod-French surname: Ray's as British as corned beef and bad teeth, despite affecting a sheen of Continental sophistication by his constant references to fancy-dan "proper" coffee. He's even trained as a barista, for god's sake.

Ray joined Light Reading in 2002 shortly after being shown the door and a very long corridor at Total Telecom. He has been in technology journalism since 1988, having worked at Computer Weekly, Communications WeekInternational and Communications International.

A slave to fashion, Ray is never seen in the same outfit twice. When not trawling the malls of Epsom, U.K., for the latest in skinny jeans and what-have-you, Ray is often to be heard banging on about SPIT (Service Provider Information Technology), which is also known as TATRTCA (The Acronym That Refuses To Catch On).

As a soccer nut, Ray likes nothing better than cheap jibes about Manchester United. If you bump into him at a trade show, be sure to make some remark about prawn-sandwich-eating supporters or similar – he'll love it!

Phil Oakley
Phil Oakley

Growing up as a 'digital native', Phil has been exposed to technology and the internet his whole life; an early memory includes using Windows 98, discovering computer games in the process. Friends have told him he runs on the internet, and he has been asked what operating system he runs. If you must know, it's a mix of macOS and Android. Previous writing exploits include writing for startups and Android Police, the leading Android technology blog, plus a (very) short stint writing about sport. At this point, Phil is getting a little exasperated with the devices running Android; current favorite is a connected shower, alongside a digital, WiFi-enabled toothbrush. Outside of technology, Phil watches a huge amount of motorsport, and tries to attend at least one 24 hour race a year. His record so far is 36 hours without sleep. He recently finished a degree in Creative Writing at the University of Winchester, where he won an award for best TV script - a comedy about Morgan, who works in a morgue and sells body parts for money.

Antony Savvas
Antony Savvas

York-based Antony Savvas has been a technology journalist for more than 25 years and regularly covers events across Europe and the US. He has worked for titles including Computer Weekly, Computing, Silicon UK, Computerworld, IT Pro and ITProPortal in the enterprise IT space, and is currently a freelance news stringer for IT Europa and a contributor to Internet of Business, IoT Now!, Charity Times and, of course, TechX365. He likes his wine dry, white and very cold, and, for his sins is a West Ham supporter, and a season ticket holder at York City, who have now dropped to into the national League North (a.k.a. League Six).
