A significant majority of UK IT decision-makers -- more than 70% -- believe that full integration of a modern business with the cloud is important, according to the results of a survey conducted for network and cloud platform operator Interoute.
The results of the survey of 120 key IT executives have been published in a report, "Transforming for success in a changing world," which examines how business leaders and owners see their companies moving to the cloud, with 73% stressing the importance of the full integration of the cloud.
Just under a third, meanwhile, said their company was "cloud first." Interestingly, only 14% thought that achieving zero downtime was the most important of the five other key cloud issues when considering cloud infrastructure questions, while 23% rated automated platform scaling as the most important. Overall, 68% said it was a priority for their business.
Interestingly, 90% said the physical proximity of a server to a customer is important, and that this is something they consider when considering different solutions for the cloud. Meanwhile, 97% of respondents said cloud and network integration was important at some level, ranging from "Very important" to "Slightly important." Running an application in the cloud, and with network integration, benefits customers hugely, as it means work can be done on any PC, anywhere, with the same data.
